It is a ceramic capsule, biocompatible
material, which specific weight and size warrant its retention, when it has been implanted in the animal. Inside of it, there is
an electronic identifier. It is sealed with silicone
approved for being used with food.
There are two models of bolus,
with different weight and size. Technical file :
The bolus is
administrated orally and it keeps in the reticule or ruminants second
stomach where it is kept during their whole life. To administrate these
boluses, there are some implanters,
specially designed for each animal specie.
The ruminal bolus depends on the
European patent “EC/EURATOM INVENTION” and it is manufactured under the owner licence. The electronic
identifiers these boluses include work under FDX-b technology according to ISO
11784
To read the boluses, you should
use readers/scanners fulfilling the ISO
11785 Standard.
There are two distribution
formats: in boxes of 50 units or in individual bags with visual
